Today we went to Greenwich to see the Royal Observatory. A very enthusiastic, very British guy named Mike gave us a tour, and a history lesson on the Longitude problem and both its mechanical and astronomical solutions. Afterwards we took a boat tour down the Thames where we saw the Tower Bridge, the Eye of London, Shakespeare’s Globe, and the Shard among other landmarks (although our tour guide preferred to focus his commentary on the plethora of shoreside pubs). Also I took lots of selfies.

Observations

  • British money is weird. The notes are all of different sizes and the £50 note is ridiculously big. They don’t have £1 notes, only coins, so every time I take my wallet out to pay for something they all spill out, it’s a mess..
  • I wonder what the English call English muffins?
  • They are NOT fans of Trump here. I’ve seen a surprising amount of anti-Trump posters, shirts, etc..
