This weekend I went to Iceland! In case you decide to visit, here are some tips:

  • It is COLD there. (bring layers)
  • Public transit is hard to find. (long wait for a bus)
  • Bus drivers wear MAGA hats?
  • Rent a car. (gives a lot of freedom, we were very glad to have done it)
  • There were many, many roundabouts. (Sam defeated almost all of them)
  • Do the Golden Circle route
  • Geysirs smell like hard boiled egg. (and then so will you)
  • Geysirs are hot. (don’t step in them)
  • Everything is liquorice flavored. (even the alcohol!)
  • Landscape is epic. (like LOTR, GOT epic)
  • Google maps lady trying to pronounce Icelandic words is hilarious. (e.g. Biskupstungnabraut)
  • £1 selfie stick from Poundland is ESSENTIAL.
  • Also bring a power bank. (would have even more photos if phone didn’t die)
  • Climb a mountain to find a hot spring. (but don’t do it at night, and bring a towel…)
  • Sleeping in airports is fun. (seriously!)
